New in 2008, a great service from Solent Sail - Singles Sailing. If you don't find the dating game to be all plain sailing, if you are too busy to socialize or have no time to meet other people. Why not try something a little more exciting than a blind date or the occasional email!

Singles' sailing is a great way to go out and have fun with lots of like-minded people from similar backgrounds in a safe and controlled environment. What happens after the weekend is up to you.

Although this is a singles weekend, there is no pressure and we limit embarrassment to a few competitions with girls against the boys. You will get to know each other through the sailing and everything is harmless fun.
 

• From 6pm

Arrive at our base port in Gosport on Friday evening and meet your skipper on board one of the yachts. We generally have a few glasses of wine or beers whilst we wait for everyone to arrive. There's no pressure if you are running late as we know people have work commitments that take priority.
 

• 8:30pm

When everyone's ready, we head off to the local tavern for a meal.
 

• 8:00am

Up for breakfast and use of the marina facilities. Then we have a short safety briefing a look around the yacht's systems.
 

• 10:00am

We depart Portsmouth Harbour for some sailing in the protected waters of the Solent. You can sit back and relax or get involved in all aspect of running the boat including helming or trimming the sails.
 

• 1:00pm

We anchor for lunch in one of the many picturesque harbours of the Solent.

We arrive at our evening stopover such as Cowes or the Hamble. All the marinas have electricity, showers and toilets for our comfort.
 

• 6:00pm

Depending on numbers, we may take more than one yacht, so we mix up the crews mid way through the weekend.
 

• 7:30pm

We head ashore a meal in a local restaurant, followed by drinks in bar. Often there is a party atmosphere with live music.
 

• 11:00pm

The skippers go back to the boats, but you are free to stay out as late as you like, provided you come back quietly!

Head back in to Portsmouth Harbour to moor up, pack away the boat and say our goodbyes - at least for now.

After the weekend, we ask you to let us know about anyone that you would like to keep in contact with. We cross check with them and, if the feeling is mutual, we pass your contact details to each other. It's like speed dating but without the speed!
 

We also have an optional feedback scheme where you provide some constructive comments about your fellow crew mates. These are anonymised and passed on to each individual taking part. It can be a very useful way of finding our what people think about you and improving your social skills as a result.
