ABOUT THE COURSE Become a useful member of any yacht crew. This course is a comprehensive introduction to sailing that will leave you confident in whatever you are doing as a crew-member onboard. During the course we will explore numerous ports and anchorages practicing handling the boat on the way. You gradually build your knowledge through 'using' and 'doing', all within the sheltered waters of the Solent. At the end of the 5 days you get an RYA course certificate and you will have clocked up at least a 100 miles in your logbook. Accommodation throughout the course is on the yacht and we provide pillows although you will need to bring a sleeping bag.COURSE STRUCTURE Dates and prices are listed below and you need only click one of the 'Buy now' buttons to reserve a place. All courses require at least 5 days of instruction that you can achieve in one of five ways: - Book a traditional 5-day mid week course (Sunday evening to Friday afternoon)
- Book a 5-day course including a weekend (usually Friday evening to Wednesday afternoon) - this means only three days off work
- Book one 2-day weekend and one 3-day weekend (Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon) - just one day off work
- Book any three 2-day weekend courses (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) - this means no time off work
- If you already have the Start Yachting course certificate, you need only book one 3-day course
STUDENT NUMBERS Each course requires at least 3 students to make it a useful learning exercise. Therefore if you are ultimately the only person booked on a course it will be impossible for it to proceed. The number of places on a course is always limited to 5 per yacht. However If there is strong demand for a particular date, we can usually accommodate more students through the use of additional yachts and instructors. If a place is not available for whatever reason, you will be given the option to defer to a later date, attend an alternative course/event on the same date if we have one, or get a full refund. |
