Prior to December 2008, news was shown on this page. |
August 2008 We have a new addition to our fleet - a Lagoon 385 catamaran. This is a fantastic boat, very new & shinny with loads of space. Also its quick, especially downwind. Available with or without skipper it is based in Weymouth, but easily re-positioned to any south coast harbour at no extra charge.
January 2008 We have a large stand at the London boat show at Excel (outside), where we launch two new products: A shared ownership scheme for yachts and, for the first time RIBs Singles sailing weekends - make a date with us!
December 2007 We shared a stand with the Yacht Charter Guide at the London boat show at Earls Court.
November 2007 We have a new addition to our fleet - a Bavaria 37
August 2007 Our Fastnet entry aboard the Bavaria 46 - Lady Nadia, got off to a superb start with the newly trained crew powering out of the Solent under full sail. Technical difficulties necessitated a maintenance stop in Weymouth, before the boat re-started the race with just a few hours delay. Unfortunately the worsening weather meant that the only sensible option was to take refuge and the boat later turned in to Plymouth. Although some of the crew were keen to wait and restart, many had other commitments that meant the only option was to retire. However we were in good company with only 60 out of nearly 300 completing the course and at least we made it to the finish celebrations. Here's to the 2009 race!
July 2007 We have a new addition to our fleet - a Dufour 385.
February 2007 Our operations office has moved to a new location within the former Camper & Nicholson yard, now known as Endeavour Quay. On your way to the office, you are likely to pass some of the most famous round-the-world race yachts undergoing repairs.
October 2006 We were very pleased to gain our RYA sea school recognition.
February 2006 A special charter during February comprised a crew of competition winners from the local radio station in Portsmouth. A lively (that's choppy) upwind sail across to Cowes for lunch at the Folley, saw two less hardy soles deciding to catch the ferry back, but the rest of the crew were keen to make the most of the conditions (this time downwind) back to Gosport.
September 2005 Personally Tailored Yacht Charters or PT Yacht Charters (PTYC) had been arranging most of our bookings up to the middle of 2005. Unfortunately this company went into administration during August just after completing the Fastnet race - a victim of its own popularity and costly high standards. Several existing bookings had been made by clients, many of whom had paid deposits or even the full charter balance. Some of these clients were already out on boats or just about to start their holiday when the company closed. Despite the fact that, as the boats' owner, we received none of these funds, all the bookings were nevertheless honoured by Solent Sail during the latter half of 2005. Our main priority was, and always will be, keeping our clients happy. From 2006 onwards, our boats are exclusively available through Solent Sail. Previous PT Yacht Charter customers coming across to Solent Sail will receive a particularly warm welcome.
