Bareboat Charter Options

Chartering bare-boat with Solent Sail is almost a contradiction in terms as all of our vessels are equipped and checked by the Marine Coast Guard Agency (MCA) to the minimum (category 2) standard. All safety equipment including life jackets, life raft and navigation equipment is provided.

If you have the relevant experience or a day skipper practical certificate, the majority of our fleet is available for you to charter without a professional skipper. Larger or more powerful vessels that require a little more experience may require a MCA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster qualification.

Never fear if you don't hold the relevant qualifications as we can provide a skipper to match your exact requirements.

Sailing Bareboat is one of the most rewarding things you can do as it gives total freedom to go wherever you like and the wind takes you. If you lack the local knowledge of different Solent ports we can suggest an itinerary and useful tips on navigation. This includes places of interest and our guide to restaurants, pubs and clubs all within your cruising range. (This information will appear on our website shortly).

Skippered Charter Options

Option 1
If you lack the experience required or just feel you would like some assistance, you can take one of our professional skippers with you. In addition to making your holiday more relaxed, you will also benefit from their experience in an informal training environment.
Option 2
If you're not sure that you are up to taking command on your own, we respect your honesty! Why not arrange to come down on a quieter weekday and go out with one of our skippers for a short assessment sail. It's not a test but they will give you an honest assessment of your capabilities. It may be all you need to give you the confidence to charter. Best of all its fun and its free (you may also bring a friend if there is available space).
Option 3
You're qualified as above, you have the experience but you are a little rusty. Why not start your charter a day early and go out with one of our skippers for a familiarisation day cruise. There is a fee for this, but obviously it's part of your charter and whilst the rest of your crew are starting their holiday, we will dispel any worries you might have to help you have a stress free break.
